The first batch of thirty-six Foton natural gas buses started to run in Shenyang on December 21, 2009. And they are going to serve bus line 221 in Shenyang from Jan.1, 2010.
Three hundred and seventy natural gas buses were purchased this year; apart from the thirty-six buses, other buses will be available before end of 2009.
Foton natural gas buses
The buses were bought by Shenyang Litong Public Transportation Company from Beijing Foton Bus with 350,000 yuan (USD) each vehicle. The bright yellow bus is 11.4-meter long and 2.7-meter wide with “CNG new environmentally friendly city bus” printed on the body. There are thirty-six seats on the bus, and each seat is covered by flannel. Our journalist was told that these are real green city buses since natural gas, but not diesel fuel, gas or LPG is used.
Apart from environmentally friendly properties, the inner trims are also rather human-oriented. The hand grab rails are twenty cm higher than that in average city buses; and four emergency hammers are placed in the bus in case of sudden accidents.
Additionally, five refueling stations have been substantially finished. And two vehickles from Tongli Company have been fueled on December 21, and another vehicles will be fueled on December 22.
