Nowadays, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT for short as below) system is developing very fast in China, especially in Beijing, the capital city of China. At present, Beijing has three BRT lines in total. They are as follow: BRT Line One is from Qianmen to Demaozhuang; BRT Line Two is from Chaoyangmen to Yangzha and Yangzha to Wuyi Garden, Tongzhou district; BRT Line Three is from Andingmen to Hongfuyuan, Changping district and Andingmen to Tiantongbeiyuan.
BRT in Beijing
According to related regulations, the speed of BRT buses should not fall below 25 km/h and one-way passenger transportation capacity should reach between 10,000 and 15,000 people per hour. Hence, BRT system is the best solution to solve the heavy transport pressure; also, it is the best solution to solve the traffic jam in large cities, such as like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, etc. During rush hour, BRT system can dispatch more than 20 buses per hour to transport passengers. The efficiency is much higher than normal bus.
News from Beijing Municipal Committee of Transport disclosed that Beijing will build six BRT systems in total in the near future.
