According to the news from Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology (BMCEIT for short as below) reports that Beijing will set up a global electric automobile research and development (R&D) center. This action will make great forwards in development of electric automobile industry. BMCEIT says the stimulus plans are jointly released by Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform. According to the plan, Beijing will put total 500 electric autos into commercial operation by the end of 2010. It is the demonstration project in nationwide.
An insider of BMCEIT discloses that the government also focuses on electric buses and sanitation vehicles. Currently, a sanitation automobile project is currently being carried out in Xicheng District. According to the government"s short-term plan, Beijing"s automobile industry output will have an annual growth rate of over 15 percent between 2009 and 2010, with an optimum target of 20 percent growth. The industry"s output value is expected to reach between 160 and 180 billion yuan. Its added value will account for 10 percent of Beijing"s total industrial output or 2.5 percent of the city"s total economic output.
