Higer Hybrid Power Buses Run in Suzhou

The launch ceremony of new energy hybrid power buses trial operation was held in Wuyi Square of Suzhou Cultural Palace on 20 January 2010 and two Higer new energy hybrid power buses were formally applied in operation. It means both the important measure for project “Ten Cities & Thousand Units" and an effective attempt for the environmental development of Suzhou public transport.

It is known that these two hybrid power buses are 12 meters long and equipped with the international advanced hybrid control technology, the domestic leading electronic control technology as well as EuroIII engine with Euro IV emission. The specific energy consumption of these buses can reach the advanced level in domestic hybrid power buses and take the leading in the respect of energy conservation, emission reducing and economic in the industry with fuel saving over 20%. They are capable of decreasing 243 ton CO2 for each unit per year, about 40%NOx, and around 30% microparticles as well as white smoke. Higer Bus becomes the pioneer of Suzhou Auto for both China and the overseas market with the annual production capacity of 22 thousand units as the independent auto brand.

Recently, Suzhou public transport develops fast with the average daily passenger flow of 1.32 million people. It makes new record in the number of the new buses and the adjusting of the bus line net. The principal of the Communications Operation Department of Suzhou Municipal showed that by the end of 2010, Suzhou public transport strived towards more than 180 bus lines, 3000 buses, and air conditioner buses no less than 35% in the total buses and 100 origin and terminal stations covering 190 square meters to create new image of Suzhou Public Transport.
