In the afternoon of 28 January 2010, 160 new buses will be applied in the center area of Ningbo before 1 February 2010, which is known from the starting ceremony of the origin station in Duantang Passengers Transit Center ( Ningbo). The first 82 CNG buses have formally started to work on the No.1, No.8, No.16 and No.523 bus route since the afternoon of 28 January. The No.12 double decks buses without air-conditioner (AC) that have served 11 years will be replaced with the new double decks buses with AC since 29 January.
It is known that there will be 425 new environmental buses including 150 CNG buses to release the pressure of rush-hour traffic and improve the riding environment by the end of 2010. The first new buses will be delivered before 1 February and then the 160 new buses with AC will occupy 68% of the total buses in Ningbo.
Li Guobo, the driver of No.16 bus said that," All new CNG stations are installed in Ningbo Yong"an Company and the a CNG bus can drive about 300 kilometers with the full gas." It is reported that the CNG buses are green, energy-saving, environmental, light noise and equipped with low fuel consumption, repair charges and strong safety. It is expected that the launching of the CNG buses will promote the energy-saving & emission reducing and the policy of "public transport first" in favor of the passengers in Ningbo.
