During the Spring Festival, all the old buses were replaced with new 12-meter buses in Chongqing. These buses are equipped with SC8DT natural gas engines with National III produced by Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. (SDE). Chongqing Public Transport Group once tried the power products from many domestic producers and finally chose Shanghai diesel engine products.

In 2009 SDE continued to keep the market shares of over 80% adaptive power range in the new energy engine areas including gas and hybrid power products. At the beginning of 2010, it obtained the big deals of 120 natural gas engines for Chongqing and 166 hybrid power systems for Shanghai World Expo.

SDE introduced strict GVDP development procedure after the integration of SAIC group, enhanced design standard, improved quality management procedure of new products and obviously promoted the products quality on the basis of GVDP. In addition, it sets up reliable product promotion plan, makes bench tests for new products for 95, 500, and 1000 hours for reliability. Also, it carries on following-up research for customers to build up quality information platform to make sure to solve quality problems on the spot.
