2010-06-01

It is learned from Beiqi Foton Nanhai branch that their new energy plants are starting in South China.

They have invested 200,000 RMB in Changsha to build their new base, and the new energy car MIDI is going to be launched this year.

Foton invested 550 million RMB to upgrade the previous Second plant in Nanhai to become a new energy bus plant with annual capacity ten thousand units. “This is a key project for Foton in 2010, and we believe that it can improve Foton new energy industry layout”, said person in charge of Foton Nanhai plant.

Foton has invested a lot in new energy vehicle research and development, and their hybrid buses are currently available initially in China, the US as well as some European countries. More and five thousand Foton vehicles were sold out in January 2010, up 274% over last year, and half of them are hybrid buses. Foton plans to produce and sell 703,700 vehicles this year, and one thousand of them will be new energy vehicles.

Foton new base strategic cooperation frame contract was signed in Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone in late April. The project aims to adjust Foton project structure and raise 200,000 units production capacity.
