As the main light commercial vehicles and bus manufacturer, the subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Company Limited, Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. speeds up on the development of new energy vehicles and industrialization. On 16 July 2010, Dongfeng Automobile took several products on the 6th International Electric Bicycle Exhibition and announced that the Dongfeng Tianyi electric logistic vehicles were firstly issued and in operation in China.
Dongfeng electric city logistic vehicle mainly aims at the features of express delivery of city logistic, combines international and domestic standard, adopts the design concept of quickness, convenience, safety and economy and merges with the strengths of Dongfeng company, domestic scientific research institutions and colleges. This model experiences 33 technical innovations, simulation work condition experiment for 30,000 kilometers, reliability demonstration reliability demonstration and gains national announcement.
In May 2010, Dongfeng Tianyi logistic vehicle put into the operation of the express delivery of Dutch TNT Company, the second global logistic company in Shanghai and became the first electric logistic vehicle in application in China. Dongfeng Touring Car Co., Ltd. has undertaken the task to develop new energy buses since 2005 and carried on the feasibility verifying tests then.
Starting with electric buses, the company has accumulated key technologies referring to battery, motor and power supply system of electric buses, based on the advantageous resources and got 17 practical new patent of inventions for battery management, drive control, auxiliary power and vehicle design. It masters the core technology of drive control and advantages of boy, chassis and electrical. This model is the only electric bus with the application of integrated design and realizes the matching of electric power system and high class bus.
On 10 October 2009, Dongfeng issued the first 15 electric buses (10 units for Tangshan government and 5 units for local public transport), which marks its essential step of Dongfeng electric bus business toward industrialization and market-oriented operation.
