Chana Group announced that they will grasp initiative in new energy bus field based on Baoding Changan Bus Company, and their first plug-in hybrid bus is going to be released late this year.
Changan Bus has long been viewed as a local bus manufacturer with comparatively small markets share, and it may be a good choice to make efforts on new energy buses.
Some experts on automobile said that Chana Group has strong strengths on new energy technology, although they are laid behind by Dongfeng, FAW etc. And it is not so hard to transfer new energy technology from passenger cars to buses, and they can therefore forge a comprehensive auto group.
Chana group cooperated with Beijing Institute of Technology to develop the plug-in hybrid buses. Currently domestic main new energy buses have small fuel prudent since the manufacturing costs for vehicles which more relay on hybrid technology. And Beijing Institute of Technology is one of few research institutes with strong development ability on new energy technology. Apart from assuming 863 new energy tasks, they have lots of cooperation with many new energy vehicle manufacturers. So they can fasten the research speed and reduce market risks by cooperating with BIT.
Although Chana group declared that they will release their first plug-in hybrid bus late this year, it will take some time before the bus on sale. So they have to pay attention to development speed of their rivals closely. And there is still a long for Chana group to go on new energy buses.
