On 18 August, the Project Dongfeng New Energy Buses grandly laid a foundation in Hubei Xiangfang New Energy Automobile Industry Base, which makes the first new energy bus base with scale in construction in China’s central and western regions.

The foundation of this project means the important step of the development of new energy buses of Dongfeng and Xiangfan City (Hubei province) towards industrialization and marketization.

On 12 August 2010, Dongfeng announced the strategy plan of energy-saving and new energy vehicles to speed up innovation and capture the commanding point of the development of new energy vehicles and made sure the first group of important special projects (16 projects) for new energy. It is known that as one of 16 Dongfeng new energy strategy projects, Project Dongfeng New Energy Bus refers to planning investment of 650 million Yuan and will own the production capacity of 2000 complete vehicles and 5000 chassis in the first half of 2011.
Dongfeng Touring Car Co., Ltd, the subsidy of DFAC has started to develop new energy buses and achieved 17 practical inventive patents in respects of battery management, drive control, auxiliary power and complete vehicle design. As of now, it has developed 7 kinds of new energy products, involving electric city bus, hybrid power bus and electric logistic transportation vehicles, which have been applied in Tangshan and Xiangfan.
