According to statistics from China Highway & Transportation Society, 92,698 buses were produced in the first half year by fifty main bus builders in China, up 43.41%, and 92,462 buses were sold out, up 44.79%, and 56.18% of which were large buses. Especially large buses, the sales were not influenced by the Highway-Railway Competition.
Sales of China large buses hit the highest point in April, but the sales in the following a few months till end of this year are not so optimistic.
Analysts deem that current international situation are not stable, and both emerging economies and developed countries are cutting financial expenditure. And China is carrying on tight financial policies.
During 2010 China Auto Industry Development Forum, senior officials in China Ministry of Environmental Protection declared that national 4 emission standards will be carried out till 2011. And this will probably bring panic buying of buses with national 3 standards.
Main bus builders are analyzing the reasons for the sales growth of large buses.
Firstly, China bus markets were rather bad last year influenced by the financial crisis, and many bus operators canceled bus purchasing plan and this year the large growth maybe the real need of last year.
Secondly, Highway-Railway Competition brought challenges but also opportunities. The high speed railway brought more transportation needs in surrounding areas, and some of them have to take buses.
Thirdly, booming tourist markets stimulates vehicles usage needs. Beijing Olympic Games and Shanghai World Expo brought new transportation needs.
Fourth, city and countryside integration drives use of large buses. China invest 4,000 billion RMB stimulus package after the financial crisis, and the funds are largely used on infrastructure construction, including public transport system.
The fifth, bus export increased largely this year. 9,360 buses and coaches were exported from January to June this year by 27 of 50 main bus builders, up 133.44%. Apart from traditional African and Middle East markets, more and more China buses are running to Europe, and the US markets.
