The roaring electric vehicle markets are attracting more and more auto makers. It is estimated that 400,000 more new city buses are needed each in China, and if the city buses are all electric buses, the market will be over 60 billion Yuan (9,015,777,000 USD).
The EVS-25 kicked off on November 5, and Chen Qingquan, CAE and chairman of EVS-25 steering committee is quoted as saying that pure electric vehicles is the only possible field that China can head in the world since no engines are needed.
Currently vehicle inventory in China is about 75 million units, including 400,000 city buses. 50,000 more new city buses are needed if their use life is eight years.
It was told that a pure electric bus with passenger capacity for 86 persons may cost 1.3 million Yuan to build. Wan Gang, Minister of MOST delivered a speech during the opening ceremony that emissions of a city bus is about forty times of private car, and emissions of taxi is about six times of a car, so government will push the development of city buses obviously.
Many auto makers have sensed the possible profits of making electric vehicles, such BYD, Yixing as well as hybrid bus maker Wuzhoulong Bus.
