Dong Jiuzhang, the chief engineer in Lvyuanda Company, wholly-owned subsidiary of Beijing Gas, in the past few days on the Third China International LNG Conference said that since 2013, Beijing accelerated natural gas vehicle development, planning to put 2,000 taxies and 3,000 public transport buses into operation. Furthermore, 5,000 natural gas vehicles would be put into driving schools and sanitation department.
Dong Jiuzhang revealed that Beijing Gas would invest 900 million yuan into natural gas vehicle industry.
Lvyuanda Company is responsible for all the business of Beijing Gas except pipeline gas. Dong Jiuzhang said that Beijing started to use new dual-fuel taxies a month ago. By this week, Beijing had put 504 CNG taxies and 502 LNG public transport buses into operation.
According to Beijing “the Twelfth 5-year plan”, fifty thousand of three hundred thousand heavy-duty trucks in Beijing should be transformed into LNG trucks. From the year of 2014 to 2017, thirty thousand natural gas vehicles will be promoted and seventy natural gas stations will be built. By 2017, the number of gas station will be 350 to ensure demands of natural gas vehicles.
It is learned from Dong Jiuzhang that to accelerate the development of natural gas vehicles, Beijing Gas had established a LNG plant in Uxen of Inner Mongolia which could provide LNG to Beijing. Meanwhile, another LNG plant in Xiji of Beijing would be built completely at the end of the year. From a whole, the company plans to spend 4-5 years to build 4 LNG plants in Beijing to meet the needs of natural gas vehicles in Beijing.
Due to the large investment of natural gas vehicle industry chain, Beijing Gas has certain funding pressure. “We are looking for support from the government, getting the subsidy in accordance with the mode of electric vehicles.” Dong Jiuzhang said, “We are as well looking for support from financial world owing to the lack of 400 million yuan of total 900 million yuan investment into natural gas vehicle industry. Hence, we look forward to more investment into this project.”
