The First BAIC Vehicle in Huanghua Rolles Offline

On Dec. 26th of 2013, BAIC Group Huanghua Industrial Base Phase I announced its completion, annual capacity of which was 200,000 units. A new vehicle went offline making a public appearance of BAIC vehicle made in Huanghua.

On that day, manufacturing ceremony of BAIC North China Industrial Base Phase I was also held in Huanghua Economic Development Zone. According to some official of BAIC, BAIC decided to establish automotive industrial base in Huanghua of Hebei Province due to limitation of land and resource three years ago. And BAIC moved capacity of BAIC Manufacturing Company to Huanghua. Covering 3,552 Mu, this base is built through two phases with total investment of 10 billion Yuan. The investment would be divided into equal 5 billion Yuan into two phases. Annual capacities after completions of Phase I and Phase II would be 200,000 units and 400,000 units.


Tao Dequan, deputy general director of BAIC Huanghua Automotive Industrial Base, said, “Annual capacity of 400,000 units means that there would be over 1,000 vehicle running out of the plant, some of which would be exported to overseas market at Huanghua Port. It is expected that over 10,000 vehicles would be exported per year.”


BAIC Group Huanghua Industrial Base is the most significant general automotive industrial base of BAIC in North China, integrated with independent brand completed vehicle manufacturing base, SUV manufacturing base, CV manufacturing base, export modification and subcontracting base, parts manufacturing base, logistic base, research base and automotive trade base. Chen Jiang, president of BAIC Automotive Manufacturing Plant and deputy GM of BAIC, said, “This base mainly manufactures mini truck, light truck, medium and heavy truck, SUV, light bus and mini bus and relative parts. After two phased completed, annual sales revenue would reach 40 billion Yuan.”


As one of China Major 5 automotive groups and one of Fortune Global 500, BAIC mainly engages in completed vehicle manufacturing, parts manufacturing, automotive service trade, R&D, education and investment. BAIC Manufacturing Plant was one Beijing Automotive Manufacturing Plant established in 1950s. BJ212 SUV independently developed was once popular in China and was called as the originator of China SUV.


What’s more, there are more than 400 automotive manufacturing companies in Huanghua city, including some influential automotive modification and parts manufacturing in domestic market. By virtue of BAIC located in Huanghua, Huanghua city is now endeavoring to develop automotive industry and plans to achieve output of over 100 billion Yuan in 2020. Thus, Huanghua could become a major automotive parts base, completed vehicle base, special vehicle manufacturing base, automotive export base, automotive logistics and trading base.
