On Apr. 14, 2014, Nanjing Golden Dragon Bus Co. Ltd. (also known as NGD) announced that the company is now actively pushing forward its new energy vehicle project with a total investment of 2 billion RMB. Its production base, located in Wuhan, will shoulder the task of R&D and production of pure electric vehicles as well as assembly of core parts. After completion, the base is projected to roll out 10,000 units of large-, medium-sized and light-weight electric buses annually with a yearly sales income of 10 billion RMB.
In an effort to solve urban smog, Wuhan municipality has decided to spend 450 million RMB in putting 300 new energy buses on its roads. So far, a number of automobile manufacturers, like BYD, have already established their presence.
Huang Hongsheng, president of NGD explains that currently governments at various levels all encourage the development and application of new energy vehicles. The vehicle industry is now experiencing a new revolution and vehicles powered by new energies are surely to replace traditional ones. Considering its huge demand, NGD has already put its eye on the central market in China.
2011, Agreement on the Re-organization of NGD was made by Nanjing Chuangyuan Tiandi, Xiamen Kinglong and Nanjing Dongyu Automobile Group. In early 2012, Mr. Huang was appointed as the president of the new NGD.
The new born NGD has been actively involved in developing new energy vehicles. In Aug. 2012, its electric buses were put into trial operation by Tongsheng Transportation Company, the first buyer of electric vehicles in Jiangsu Province.
