On the evening of Apr. 14, 2014, Zhongtong Bus revealed its 2013 annual report, showing that the bus maker realized a business income of 3.217 billion RMB, up by 12.14% against the previous year. Meanwhile, its net profit totaled 105 million RMB, up by a staggering 80.74% year on year.

In 2013, Zhongtong sold 12,036 units of buses, basically at the same level with the previous year (12,017 in 2013). In terms of export, the company"s sales volume in the overseas market reached 1,751 units, up by 24.7% year on year with an export income of 603 million RMB, up by 31.5% annually.

The company expects a slight increase in its overall sales volume in 2014. The sales of its intercity coaches may remain sluggish, but its citybuses are expected to maintain a growing momentum. School buses and buses powered by new energy as well as gas are going to be the major driving force.

In 2014, Zhongtong is planning to realize a sales income of 3.6 billion RMB by producing and selling 13,700 buses. Also, its focus will be put on developing new energy buses, school buses, gas-powered buses and overseas markets.

Despite the fact that the company"s sales volume in 2013 kept almost unchanged compared with that of 2012, its sales income jumped by 12.14%. The company explains that the sharp increase in their sales income can be attributed to its dramatic increase in selling new energy buses.

"In 2013, Zhongtong sold about 1,100 units of new energy buses with a sales income of around 800 million RMB, both of which were up by 600%," says Li Dusheng, Brand-building Director from Zhongtong.
