As the three core technologies of pure electric buses, batteries directly determine the application and popularization of the green vehicles. On Apr. 9, 2014, Youngman Automobile Group officially signed a contract with Hong Kong Kownoon Bus for selling the latter eight pure electric buses. Equipped with the third generation nano-carbon lithium batteries independently developed by Youngman, the green bus is pollution free and can be conveniently recharged in only five minutes. Moreover, the battery boasts a life expectancy of over ten years.
According to Youngman, a common lithium battery usually costs over one million RMB and can merely last for two years. Suppose a bus is expected to operate for ten years, the cost on batteries alone will reach up to five million RMB, let alone other maintenance fees involved. Youngman"s new battery technology has successfully overcome the drawbacks of other lithium batteries and can help operators save purchasing costs as much as 4.5 million RMB. Youngman also promises to make compensations for its customers once there is any problem with its batteries.
To further popularize its pure electric buses, Youngman has initiated a brand new marketing strategy: once its customers intend to buy its electric bus, it can offer help to them with bank loans. Thankfully, the green bus is entitled to enjoy subsidies from governments for one million, more than half of the vehicle"s price. Compared with the operating costs of a diesel powered bus, Youngman"s electric bus can save as much as 1.29 million RMB in ten years, which is more than enough to make the payment of 0.89 million RMB to buy the new vehicle.
Though the order of eight buses may seem a small number, it represents a huge step forward for both parties. Youngman"s sales agent in Hong Kong reveals that Kowloon Bus is planning to buy 14 pure electric buses in 2014. Other public transport companies in Hong Kong also keep a close eye on Youngman buses. The company is expected to put 36 Youngman electric buses in Hong Kong this year.
Youngman electric buses have been put into operation on K12 bus route in Jinhua since the end of 2013. So far, the green bus fleet has been working smoothly.
