According to the latest statistics released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), the nation"s production and sales volume in May saw a downward movement against the previous months, but went up against the same period last year. In the meantime, the production and sales volume of passenger cars dropped slightly against Apr., but grew rapidly against the same period last year. In terms of commercial vehicles, both its production and sales volume moved downward against Apr. and the same period last year. From Jan. to May this year, both the production and sales volume of various vehicles went up steadily.
In May, both production and sales volume of vehicles dropped slightly, but maintained a fast growing momentum against the same period previous year. The nation rolled out 1.9758 million units and sold 1.9112 million units vehicles, down by 4.4% and 4.6% respectively against the previous month, and up by 11% and 8.5% respectively against the same period last year.
From Jan. to May, China rolled out 9.9280 million units and sold 9.8381 million unists of vehicles in total, up by 9.4% and 9% against the same period last year. In addition, the growth rates this year are 4.1 and 3.6 percentage higher than the same period last year.
In May, the production and sales volume of commercial vehicles reached 326,200 and 320,800 units respectively, down by 18.5% and 18.8% against Apr. this year. Compared with the data in the same period last year, both went down by 9.6% and 12%, showing that both production and sales volumes have maintained a downward movement.
From Jan. to May, the production and sales volume of commercial vehicles reached 1.8185 million and 1.7680 million units, up by 2.4% and 0.1% against the same period last year. The growth rates are lower than those achieved in the previous four months this year. In the same period, the production and sales of buses grew by 3.4% and 5.7% respectively. However, the production and sales of non-whole-body bus vehicles went down by 11% and 11.5%. In the meantime, the production of trucks went up by 2.3% while its sales went down by 0.7%. Specificially, the mid-sized and heavy trucks maintained growth while light and mini trucks moved downward.
In May, China exported 76,300 units of vehicles, down by 2.3% against that in Apr., and down by 12% against May last year, showing the vehicle export continued maintaining a downward movement. The export of passenger cars totalled 42,900 units, down by 7.9% against Apr. this year, and down by 17.2% against May last year. The export of commercial vehicles stood at 33,400 units, up by 5.9% against Apr. this year and down by 4.2% against the same period last year.
From Jan. to May, China exported 363,300 units vehicles in total, down by 9.8% against the same period last year.
According to the data released by China Customs, China imported 130,700 units of vehicles in May this year, up by 34.5% year on year. In the meantime, the country exported 78,500 units of vehicles, down by 4.6% year on year. From Jan. to Apr., the nation imported 439,100 units of vehicles, up by 40% year on year. In the meantime, its export stood at 281,900 units, down by 8.1% year on year.
