Up to now over 9,100 new energy vehicles have been operating in Hefei, which makes it a forerunner in the new energy vehicle promotion in China. There are altogether 7,120 vehicles running in Anhui province, including 5,351 electric sedans from Jianghuai Automobile, 1,334 new energy buses from Ankai, 196 electric logistic vehicles from Changan Automobile, 237 electric sedans from Chery Automobile, and 2 sanitation vehicles. There are 141 vehicles including the new energy buses, electric logistic vehicles, electric sedans and about 2,000 electric sanitation vehicles running outside Anhui province. At present the total distance travelled of the new energy vehicle is over 0.12 billion km. In addition, 18 liters of fuel oil has been saved and over 40 thousand of CO2 has been reduced.
According to the relevant person, 10 thousand new energy vehicles will be running inside Heifei and over 20 thousand will be operating outside till 2015. With a greater R&D investment, it is hoped that 50% of the power battery cost could be reduced, and the cost of the new vehicle could be lowered to the same as that of the traditional vehicle.
