At 4:30 pm on Aug. 3, an earthquake measuring 6.5 in magnitude devastated Ludian County in Zhaotong, Yunnan Province. As of 8 am on Aug. 5, the total number of casualities rose to 398. The disaster hit area was totally cut by traffic, electricty and telecommunications.
In response to the severe situation, officials from Higer Bus have decided to send the company"s recreational vehicles to Yunnan to provide rescue work for the local people.
By making an announcement in the first moment for setting up the recue vehicle team, Higer quickly applied for the permit for rescue work from the central government. At 6 pm on Aug. 4, the government released its permit to the 16 units of Higer rescue vehicles.
At 6:45 pm on Aug. 4, only 45 miniutes after receiving the permit, 16 units Higer rescue vehicles started their journey to the quake stricken areas in Zhaotong with 21 rescue workers.
