A few days ago, 638 units brand new Golden Dragon school buses were ready for shipping at Xiamen Port to Saudi Arabia. It is expected that the whole batch of school buses with a total value of over 27 million USD will arrive at the Middle East nation at the end of this week.
Currently, the domestic bus market is experiencing a downward movement. However, the overseas market has kept a growing momentum. Golden Dragon started its overseas business in 2003 and reach a peak in 2007 with a total export value of 143 million USD (over one billion RMB), becoming the leading bus exporter in China. The financial crisis in 2008 plunged the bus maker"s overseas business from the peak to the bottom. However, Golden Dragon persevered and always put its overseas business expansion top on its development agdenda. While making adjustments accordingly, its global business soon picked up.
Starting from this year, Xiamen-based Golden Dragon has made a number of impressive achievements in the overseas markets. In the first half of this year, it has exported 3,424 units buses to Egypt, making it the leading bus brand in the local market. In Taiwan, the company has sold 140 units buses and coaches this year and soon it is planning to export its electric bus to the island. In July, its aluminum electric bus with low floor access arrived in Netherlands, marking the first of its type from China to European market, which is well renowned for its high entry requirements and strict technical standards.
Earlier this year, Saudi Arabian government decided to invite bids internationally for purchasing school buses which are intended to provide more convenience for the school kids across the nation. To insure the safety operation the vehicles, the government has set quite strict standards concerning the school bus operators, the quality of the vehicles and delivery period. Golden Dragon successfully won the bid on the back of its uniquely attactive bus design, highly reliable quality and sound after-sales services.
