"Budapest is already a leading city in Europe as far as electromobility – electric transport – is concerned. This is best illustrated by the existing metro, tram and suburban railway network. In addition, Budapest boasts one of the longest trolleybus networks in Europe and even worldwide. The current procurement of brand new trolleybuses has been supported by EU funds covering 99% of expenditure. This present contract with Solaris lays the foundation of the future of trolleybus transport in Budapest," emphasised BKK CEO David Vitezy at the signing of the agreement

Solaris vehicles have been present in Hungary since 2002. So far, nearly ninety Solaris buses and trolleybuses have been running on Hungarian streets – in the capital city of Budapest as well as in Debrecen and Nyíregyhaza, towns in the northeast of the country. With the new order from Budapest, Solaris Bus & Coach strengthens its position as the biggest trolleybus manufacturer in the European Union.
