On Dec. 1, Higer 6109TAEV electric bus successfully passed the water test in National Vehicle Quality Supervision & Testing Center in Xiangyang, Hubei. Thus, it becomes the first bus brand among its domestic counterparts to make such an impressive achievement.
The engineers at the center strictly complied with the requirements of the water test, which was taken under two different working modes.
First, Higer 6109TAEV electric bus was driving with an even speed of 30km/h in a water pond with a depth of 15 cm. The vehicle still worked smoothly ten minutes after driving into this pond.
Second, the bus drove to another water pond which is 30 cm deep. This time, the vehicle was required to move with an even speed of 5km/h. Still, it maintained smooth operation for twenty minutes, completing such acts as moving forward and backward.
In the end, the engineers at the center concluded that the resistance levels of the insulation resistance, the battery, the electric motor, the high voltage controller, and the high voltage harness can all meet the national standards.
Among all types of new energy vehicles, the electric ones set the highest water-proof requirements. To meet these requirements, Higer chooses the best spare parts suppliers from both home and abroad, which fully ensure the quality of its products. In the meantime, it has optimized the position of the batteries mounted on the electric bus. A subtle balance must be achieved between the water-proof level of the vehicle and the heat radiation level of the batteries. One of them is bound to be comprised if more emphasis is laid on the other. To solve the problem, Higer makes a new breakthrough by conducting the cooled air into the battery cabin. Moreover, more fans are added in the cabin to ensure that the battery cell is kept in good condition for heat radiation. It is also worth mentioning that a device for filtering miscellaneous materials is mounted in the cabin to fully protect the batteries and strengthen their life-span.
The success of the experiment once again demonstrates that Higher electric bus is fully capable of operating under various road conditions and weather conditions in urban areas. What’s more, the success of the experiment is going to give its customers a boost in confidence in new energy buses.
