The unveiling ceremony of Shandong New Energy Base of Foton Motor is held in Jinan. Shandong New Energy Base of Foton Motor is located in Weifang High-tech Zone with a total invest ment of 1.5 billion yuan. The annual production can reach 10,000 units. As an important strategic base promoting new energy vehicle manufacture level, the base mainly produces new energy public buses, new energy group buses and school buses.
Foton is always a pilot of the manufacture and operation of new energy vehicles. Foton began to plan new energy strategy since 2003, put into experiment in 2005. New energy buses are delivered to operation in 2008. Currently, 15,000 Foton new energy vehicles are in operation. Shandong new energy base is important manufactory nationwide with an annual production volume of 600 000 vehicles.
New energy vehicle will become core strategic business of Foton in the future. On 2020, new energy vehicle will reach 25%—30% of the total sales volume. Foton Shandong new energy base is an important part to the target. Foton Shandong new energy base will accelerate the strategy transformation, raise exports and accelerate the development of new energy vehicle industry.
