As a representative of Yutong E-series full electric buses, E7 has become a new trend-setter in many areas of the green bus industry. Weighing only 80% of its counterparts, Yutong E7 boasts a continuous driving distance of 150 kilometers. The number of its spare parts is 57% less than that of a conventional bus. In addition, Yutong E7 has a highly integrated and modularized body. With a compact body structure, Yutong E7 is more reliable compared with its counterparts and thus it helps its operator greatly cut maintenance fees. With an operating fee just about 0.3 RMB per kilometer, it is even more fuel efficient than a fuel powered taxi in urban areas.

As an important means of public transport, safety has always been Yutong E7’s top concern. With annular frame member structure, E7 boasts a much sturdier body which can easily withstand heavy collision impacts and thus ensures the safety of its passengers. Moreover, its rollover angle is 45 degrees, way above the national standard of 28 degrees.

As a key part of full electric buses, batteries on full electric buses must be consistently reliable. According to the bus maker, those batteries mounted on E7 all must go through a number of stringent tests, such as high temperature, short circuit, compression, water immersion, puncture, overcharge, etc. to make sure they do not cause any smokes, fires or any other safety troubles. What’s more, Yutong E7’s battery management system (BMS) constantly monitors the temperature, voltage, electric current and power of every single battery. The alarming system will be activated when trouble occurs.

As China’s leading bus brand in energy-saving and new energy bus field, Yutong has been sparing no effort to push forward the fast development of the industry. As early as 1999, the company rolled out its first full electric bus. In 2005, Yutong developed its first hybrid bus. Having been involved in the environmentally friendly bus field for over 15 years, it has accumulated rich experience in making new energy buses and has mastered a number of core technologies in this field. In recent years, the bus maker continued to invest heavily in new energy bus field. In October 2012, its energy-saving and new energy bus production base with a total investment of 3.86 billion RMB completed construction and was put immediate operation afterwards. It also made an investment of 330 million RMB in building the National Research Center on Electronic Control & Safety Engineering Technology of Electric Buses. In the meantime, it has set up New Energy Bus Development Fund with its own investment of one billion RMB. Aiming at financing the overall development of new energy buses, the fund provides financial assistance to the R&D and production of spare parts used for new energy buses in the upper stream of the industry, and the building of infrastructure, related leasing services, and recycling of batteries in the downstream.
