According to sources, in the first half year of 2015, new energy vehicles licensed in Shanghai sell 14,547 units, up by 888% on the same period of last year which were 1,473 units, which sets a new record. According to expert analysis, the rapid growth of new energy vehicle sales on one hand is due to the growing awareness of the public on green travel and free license plate, on the other hand, it mainly thanks to the implementation of Interim Provisions on the Administration of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Construction in Shanghai since July 1st, 2015 which states that the subsidy policy that encourages customers to buy new energy vehicles expires by the end of June.
Among the 14,547 units of new energy vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles take 10,661 units and pure electric vehicles take 3,886 units, pure electric city buses 42 units, plug-in city buses 220 units and electric commute buses 689 units.
