Yutong New Energy Buses Bring More Blue Skies and Fresh Air to Qinhuangdao

Before deciding to purchase new energy buses made by Yutong, the bus operators in Qinhuangdao have made thorough researches of a number of competitive bus makers and their counterparts in other cities. In earlier 2013, Yutong hybrid buses and plug-in hybrid buses started trial operation. Half a year later, both types of eco-friendly buses successfully delivered satisfactory performances in terms of power, reliability and travel comforts. In addition, Yutong plug-in hybrid buses are superior to Yutong hybrid buses in environmental friendliness and energy efficiency, but they were not entitled to enjoy comparable subsidies from the government as the latter. Fortunately, China’s central government launched a national program to build New Energy Vehicle Demonstration Cities. Thanks to this, Qinhuangdao government has been attaching paramount importance to the development of new energy bus fleet in the city. In the meantime, bus operators in the city also become more determined to replace their traditional vehicles with more environmentally friendly new energy buses.

Li Bin, Deputy General Manager of Qinhuangado Public Transport Company, raised his thumb when talking about Yutong buses. “Yutong has certainly lived up to its reputation as the leading bus maker in China. It holds a whopping 35% of the whole bus market in China. We are very satisfied with its products in both safety standards and reliability,” says Mr. Li. As Qinhuangdao is a well-known tourist city in China, both the government and the public do have higher expectations towards vehicle safety standards. Yutong buses, no matter their active protection measures or passive ones, are well attended to in the smallest details. For example, in case of emergencies, Yutong buses boast a host of measures which can help passengers get out of danger, such as safety valves both inside and outside the vehicle, air switch controlled by drivers, easy safety key, electronically controlled window breaker, window breaking hammer, etc. All these measures are standard for every Yutong buses to ensure the safety of every passenger. Apart from these, Yutong buses are also well known for their high level of driving and ride comforts, uniquely fashionable design and unparalleled after-sale services. To ensure the smooth operation of the bus fleet, Yutong has sent professional technical staff to track the detailed information of its buses and provide important data to the bus operator in Qinhuangdao so that it could better manage its bus fleet.

As of the end of 2014, a total number of 448 units of new energy buses had been put into operation in Qinhuangdao, accounting for 56% of the city’s total bus fleet. The city is now also taking the lead in Hebei Province in the number of new energy buses. It has completed the replacement of heavily polluting buses ahead of the schedule.

Li Bin also reveals that Qinhuangdao is mainly composed of plains and the city has a great number of crossroads. During the rush hours, the traffic jam has always been a headache for drivers. Usually it takes about at least three minutes to pass a traffic light. Under such conditions, Yutong plug-in hybrid buses are wholly powered by electricity when the vehicle’s speed is less than 25 km/h. Thus, it contributes significantly to its overall energy efficiency. After over a year of operation, Yutong new energy buses help bus operators cut fuel costs by 33%-36%. More importantly, Qinhuangdao city has further upgraded its urban image and its citizens can now enjoy more blue skies and more fresh air nowadays.
