On Sept. 23, an announcement was made on the website of China"s Ministry of Transport to reveal the 53rd batch of high-end buses newly evaluated by experts. It is also the first time for the new energy buses to be assessed. Ten Yutong new energy bus models, including nine electric buses and one plug-in bus are awarded the high-end new energy bus titles.
According to sources, the assessment certificate of buses is essential for bus operators to obtain transport permit. The assessment of new energy buses shows that the manufacturing technologies of eco-friendly buses have gradually become mature, ready for popularization on road and travel transportation.
To ensure the high quality and reliability of new energy buses, the assessment board sets higher standards on bus safety and continuous driving capability for new energy buses. For example:
Electric buses (including buses) and hybrid buses (including buses) should equip with special automatic fire extinguisher in the power battery boxes. The board floor should be made of fire-proof materials. The fire-proof level should reach B1-B level and combustion level should be at s1-t0 level. The oxygen index should be no less than 30%.
Hybrid buses (including buses) should be able to drive for no less than 50 km continuously when tested by the 40 km/h speed testing method. Electric buses (including buses) should be able to drive no less than 200 km continuously when tested by the 40 km/h speed testing method.
The weight of the power battery system of electric buses (including buses) and hybrid buses (including buses) should account for no more than 20% of the overall weight of the vehicle.
Yutong ZK6115BEV1, also known as E10 was also awarded the high-end bus title. Measuring 10.7 meters in length, Yutong E10 electric bus boasts a uniquely fashionable appearance and it is ideal for group travel passenger transportation. With spacious interior space, it can mount 45+1 seats. Capable of driving 260 km continuously, the bus has been gaining popularity among the bus operators. So far, over 800 units E10 electric buses have been sold so far.
In July this year, Yutong produced and sold 2,784 units electric buses, accounting for 43.7% of the market. Both its monthly sales volume and market share made a new record in the history. Some insiders point out that this year is of key importance in the development history of new energy buses. As China"s leading bus makers, Yutong is expected to maintain robust growing momentum in the latter half of this year.
