At 2016 NPC and CPPCC sessions, China"s National TV Station CCTV made a documentary titled Chinese Brands in Overseas Market. On March 12, a new episode about Yutong was broadcast to the whole nation.
CCTV journalists first arrived in Cuba where it is not hard to find Yutong buses. Nowadays, high quality Yutong buses have already won widespread recognition among Cuban people.
Raphael, a coach driver, shared his experience, saying that he once drove Yutong buses to Guantanamo, the farthest point anyone could reach in the country. With a total distance of 3,625 km, he drove 29 days. Still, he had a wonderful and unforgettable experience. "I was very impressed by Yutong which had no problem at all along the whole trip. It is indeed of extremely high quality," Raphael told the journalist.
In 2005, the first batch of Yutong buses arrived in Cuba. With a total investment of 800,000 USD, the bus maker also built its own spare parts inventory. In the meantime, it sent eight technicians to work there, providing assistance for the local bus operators. Thanks to their high quality, fast repair work and satisfactory after-sales services, Yutong buses soon gained a foothold in Cuba.
In just over a decade"s time, the number of Yutong buses has exceeded 6,100 units in Cuba, accounting for 90% of the nation"s total bus fleet. Not only those travel coaches, the vast majority of city buses, shool buses, long-distance inter-city buses are now branded with Yutong. Having brought much convenience for many Cubans, Yutong has already become a daily vocabulary for people in Cuba. In 2010 when the country was celebrating its 50th anniversary, a song became very popular with the lyrics "I am proud of being a Cuban and I love Yutong buses".
Apart from the local people, many tourists in Cuba also speak highly of Yutong buses. Zed Dore, a tourist from Canada is extremely pleased with Yutong bus, saying "Everything is just perfect. Very cozy seats, big room, large windows, all are just perfect! I also like the curtains very much. When the scorching sun came out, I could always drew the curtain. It makes the trip so much fun."
When entering a new market abroad, Yutong always makes thorough investigations about the local road conditions, customers" specific requirements and the laws and regulations of the country. It provides customized products for all bus operators. For example, in Russia where the winter is long and freezingly cold, Yutong buses are all equipped with extra powerful and independent water-heating system. In Saudi Arabia where the weather is usually dry and hot, Yutong buses boast highly powerful air-conditioning systems. In Israel, the drivers" cockpit has been made even more spacious to suit the special built of the local drivers.
Apart from above, Yutong also offers a comprehensive package of backup services, such as financing and spare parts supplies. Thanks to all these measures, the bus maker has quickly won the recognition and trust of many bus operators and thus it has seen its sales on a fast rise. Now, Yutong has given its way of overseas expansion a new name called "Cuban Business Mode", the very core of which is to suit customers" specific needs. Cuban Business Mode has also made significant contributions to the company"s growth in the overseas market, laying a solid foundation for its fast and continued development. Nowadays, Yutong has already made its way to the birthplace of modern buses, Europe.
In the face of the highly stringent technical standards and scrutinizing eyes of a handful of big names in the world"s bus industry, what are the secrets of Yutong for its business success?
In October 2015 at Busworld Expo which was held in Kortrijk, Belgium, Yutong rolled out its first 12-meter electric bus just for the European market. As new energy buses are undoubtedly the way out for the bus industry"s development, those electric buses with zero-emission standard have gradually become the trend in the birthplace of modern buses. Also at Busworld Kortrijk, Yutong signed an agreement with Paris Mass Transportation Company for the trial operation of its environmentally friendly vehicles. It is expected that soon Yutong will make its way to Europe in large scale.
Xie Fuzhan, Governor of Henan Province, while attending 2016 NPC and CPPCC sessions, revealed that in recent years, Yutong has made relentless efforts to promote new energy buses. With long-term concerted efforts, Yutong has made a number of new breakthroughs in large-sized new energy buses. Having mastered the key technologies in this promising field, Yutong produced over 20,000 units new energy buses last year, accounting for one third of its overall production volume last year. Currently, Yutong is confronted with the problem of how to cut its production costs and further boost the competitiveness of new energy buses in the market. As a responsible company, Yutong must shoulder the task to help government solve the smoggy weather in some cities in China and improve the air quality in urban areas.
Currently, Yutong has made its presence in 130-plus countries and regions across the globe. It has cultivated six markets, including Latin America, Russian-spoken market, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific region, Africa, and Europe-US market. Chang Hao, Executive Deputy General Manager of Overseas Marketing of Yutong reveals that "we are now working hard to transplant our business success in Cuba to more overseas markets. We are confident that our products will exceed the expectations of many customers and provide more environmentally friendly and convenient services for them."
