On April 8, Nanjing Golden Dragon Bus Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Pingshan New Area Administrative Committee officially signed Nanjing Golden Dragon Shenzhen New Energy Vehicle Production Base Investment & Cooperation Agreement. According to the agreement, Nanjing Golden Dragon is expected to make an investment of eight billion RMB in Pingshan New Area to build new energy vehicle production base.

Nanjing Golden Dragon Shenzhen New Energy Vehicle & Key Spare Parts Production Base is going to be constructed in three phases. When completed, it will become the bus maker’s strategic platform on new energy vehicles, R&D Center, and High-end Intelligent Manufacturing Center. Boasting an annual production volume of 10,000 large- and medium-sized buses, and 20,000 units light commercial vehicles, the base is estimated to realize an annual income of 30 billion RMB and annual profits and taxes of 800 million RMB.

Currently, Nanjing Golden Dragon has put over 400 units large electric buses into operation in Shenzhen. Equipped with the fifth generation of integral control system, its buses are highly maneuverable and cost effective. Also thanks to their low rate of repair, they have been gaining increasing popularity among bus drivers and operators. Apart from Shenzhen, Nanjing Golden Dragon has also successfully made its way to a number of first-tier cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Hangzhou, and Dalian, etc.

Nanjing Golden Dragon’s investment in Pingshan, Shenzhen will further speed up the industrial agglomeration process of the state-level new energy vehicle production base located in Pingshan. Set up in 2012, the production bas has already been positioned as China’s National Strategic Emerging Industrial Base by the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Science and Technology. With a planned area of 13.5 square kilometers and a planned construction area of 25 million square meters, the production base is now home to such well known auto brands as Wuzhoulong and BYD.

Now, new energy vehicle industry has become one of the pillars of the economy in Pingshan New Area. The local administration is working hard to put 3,000 units new energy vehicles on its roads by 2017 with 234 fast-recharging posts for city buses, 37 fast-recharging posts for sanitation vehicles, 240 fast-recharging posts for public use, and 2,000 slow-recharging posts.
