Every year, on the event of Intersolar Europe held in Munich in June, BYD Company Ltd. holds a parallel event in which it showcases its latest technologies in renewable energy generation and storage. This year, BYD themed the event “Fully Sustainable Power Solutions”, and held it on June 22, following the “Ice and Fire” event during Intersolar 2015, in which the company launched its Module 2.0 – a double glass PV module featuring outstanding improvements in power production and durability – along with the B-Box and Mini-ES energy storage systems. The focus this year was the release of a revolutionary business model featuring comprehensive solutions in solar power generation and storage to a large audience comprising industry leaders, sustainability stakeholders and specialized media. The company also exhibited new developments in large silicon solar cell modules and black silicon battery components, manufactured through processes that improve cell power output and reduce production costs.
Additionally to BYD’s latest technologies and business propositions, the event also included a panel discussion and Q&A with the company’s senior executives and business experts on the role and significance of the company’s latest business model and the current status of the global renewable energy industry and its conundrums; as well as the signing ceremony of the world"s first “Fully Sustainable Power Solutions” project agreement, marking the birth of this model to be implemented initially in the UK: New Balance Energy Technology Co. Ltd. (Shanghai), UK clean energy project developer Green Hedge and BYD signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding announcing that they will jointly conduct a global promotion of the “Fully Sustainable Power Solutions” proposition, and create the first demonstration projects in the UK.
BYD’s “Fully Sustainable Power Solutions” aims at breaking through the traditional bottleneck of photovoltaic power generation, so that PV projects meet more diverse market needs and create new growth potential in the renewable energy industry. The global PV industry has been developing rapidly in recent years, but there is no dearth of challenges in production capacity and reliability, as well as in market trends and public policies. In terms of power production, BYD’s “Fully Sustainable Power Solutions” propose that the energy generated through PV goes first into energy storage equipment in order to curb instabilities in energy flow and improve distribution. This proposition represents a breakthrough for power plant owners to be able to provide a more diverse business model.
The idea of combining PV generation with energy storage is not new, but what grants BYD an edge is that not only is the company the world"s largest Iron-Phosphate battery manufacturer, it is also the only company to make both photovoltaic and energy storage products. Such combination has enabled BYD to acquire extensive experience to analyze the industry and amass vast technical and market knowledge, additionally to developing solid relationships with leading renewable energy project developers and financial and investment institutions both in China and abroad. The company has cooperated with the world’s top renewable energy producers in countless successful projects. Excellent products, advanced technology and a wealth of resources grant BYD’s “Fully Sustainable Power Solutions” a powerful guarantee.
