As summer came, many places across China have been experiencing scorching heat or rainy season. To prevent accidents, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released a draft for the safety standards of electric buses.
Zhongtong New Energy Buses to be Delivered
Safety has always been the highest concern for new energy buses. Just two month ago, Zhongtong initiated a thorough investigation on its new energy bus fleet operating on the market. Currently, over 20,000 units Zhongtong new energy buses are working smoothly across many cities in China. To eliminate any problems and ease people’s safety concerns, the bus maker recently launched new energy bus safety improvement project, which covers nine areas, 20 categories and over 50 items. Fire prevention, water resistance and high voltage are the focus of bus maker. By conducting a series of trouble-shooting work in vehicle safety standards, production and key spare parts, the bus maker is hoping to further improve the overall safety standards of its eco-friendly bus fleet.
According to a technician from Zhongtong, the company is going to increase the protection level to IP67 in batteries, electric pumps, steering machines, integrated power supply, high-voltage power distribution boxes, key low-voltage spare parts and wire harness connectors at lower parts of Zhongtong buses. In addition, it aims to increase the anti-flaming level to VO and adopt higher standards in choosing high-voltage spare parts. A series of water-resistance tests for batteries and other high-voltage spare parts will also be conducted.
Zhongtong Landi Business Electric Bus
As to the interior materials, harnesses, plastic parts, Zhongtong has set much higher standards on their flame-retardant nature. Also between the battery cabin and passengers, Zhongtong buses has stringent passive anti-flaming measures in place. The battery cabin is cushioned by materials which work normally under -50℃~750℃ temperature range. Carbonization, charring and burning are strictly prohibited. Heat insulation measures have also been taken at other high-voltage and heat-generating spare parts. All these measures can effectively improve the overall safety standards of new energy buses.
