On July 23, Phuket Island, Thailand, officially launched a campaign themed with Livable City & Safe Travel. At the same time, Shanghai Sunlong Bus Co., Ltd. (hereafter referred to as Sunlong Bus) delivered 100 units travel coaches to the island.
As a Chinese bus brand having won a high public recognition in Thailand, Sunlong bus fleet is playing a significant role in local public transportation sector. Having established a solid presence in the city bus sector, Sunlong is now growing by leaps and bounds in the country’s booming tourist transportation sector.
According to a survey, Thailand ranked the second among all countries in the world for casualties caused by traffic accident, which have adversely affected the country’s overall image. To change the situation, Thai government has been working hard in recent years to improve the safety on the road. According to Zhang Peidong, Business Councilor at Chinese embassy to Thailand, “Chinese companies are playing an increasingly important role in the bilateral relations. By providing much-needed assistance to the local economy, Sunlong buses not only push the bar of the local public transportation to a new historical level, they also bring more travel comforts for tourists, making Phuket island a more attractive destination for tourists across the world.”
Narapong Chenchu, Deputy Director of Thailand Road Transportation Bureau, reveals that the country currently has 40,000 units buses, but many of them have already been operating for quite some years. Along with the boom of the country’s tourism industry, the bus fleet is hardly able to suit customers’ needs. Before 2005, the majority of buses in Thailand were second-hand vehicles bought from Europe, Japan or South Korea. In 2006, Sunlong officially entered Thailand. Having delivered several batches of buses to a number of cities in the country, including its capital city Bangkok, Sunlong soon became highly visible in the country’s public transportation sector. Many local citizens have been much impressed by Sunlong’s appearance, interior design and performance.
At first, Sunlong was chiefly cooperating with local sales agents. However, the bus maker soon gained a full knowledge of the local market and customers’ special needs. It later rolled out some tailor-made buses in Thailand, which greatly helped local bus operators cut costs and thus rose to the fame quickly. Take Sunlong SLK6102 for example, the bus is measuing 9.7-meter in length. To meet the needs of smaller tour groups, the bus boasts even more spacious room for each passenger and it thus gained popularity immediately among customers. In this year alone, Sunlong has received many orders.
While doing business abroad, Sunlong attaches paramount significance to its after-sales service. In Thailand, the bus maker has been making constant efforts to improve its post-sales networks. In Bangkok, Sunlong has set up a large-scale warehouse to supply various types of spare parts for its bus fleet. In addition, over ten post-sales engineers and technicians are stationed in the country to provide timely and professional services to the local customers.
Currently, over 5,000 Sunlong buses are operating smoothly in Thailand. Measuring from 6-meter to 15-meter in length, they provide high-quality transportation services in the urban public transportation sector, tourist transportation sector, long-distance transportation sector, etc.
