New Energy Power Platform Key Technologies and Applications consist of optimization and integration of automated mechanical transmission (AMT) and its control system, special lithium-ion battery systems for new energy buses, highly efficient permanent magnetic synchronous electric motor and its control systems. With much improved reliability, durability and safety standards, the newly developed control systems for plug-in hybrid buses and electric buses represent the highest standards in China. In October this year, Zhongtong New Energy Bus and its Electromechanical Coupling Driving System won the golden prize in the first Provincial Governor Cup Industrial Design Competition.

Along with the rising number of new energy buses operating on the roads, electric control systems are playing an increasingly important role in the new energy buses for their safety, energy conservation and reliability. Zhongtong New Energy Bus Electric Control System Key Technologies and Application has made several impressive achievements. Its multiple power management system can accurately “sense” the drivers’ driving mode through various sensors, CAN and driving modules. Thanks to the new system, power can be more efficiently allocated to such key spare parts as batteries, engines and electric motors on new energy buses to ensure their safe operation and achieve high fuel economy. Currently, Zhongtong electric control systems are widely used on its plug-in hybrid buses, electric buses, and duel-power fast-recharging buses with the total number exceeding 20,000 units and the accumulated mileage reaching over 2.6 billion kilometers.

The 100,000 Units New Energy Bus Long-distance Monitoring and Safety Management was launched in 2013, aiming to further improve the operation safety of the vehicles. So far, 26 DBC databases have been set up and the information of over 60 bus models has been filed.

From January to November this year, Zhongtong realized a total sales volume of 11,241 units new energy buses, reaching a new record high. So far, Zhongtong new energy buses have established their presence in every province, autonomous region and municipality across China, accounting for nearly 20% of the total new energy bus fleet in China.
