On March 30, 2017 Tianjin International Bus Exhibition officially kicked off at Meijiang International Exhibition Center. Sunlong brought four new energy bus models on display.
At the exhibition booth, Song Yizhong, Director of Sunlong New Technology Research Institute, reveals that SLK6108 electric bus, SLK6109 electric city bus and SLK6859 electric city bus on display were all independently developed by the bus maker. So far, the three vehicles have successfully passed a series of stringent tests on preventing water, battery safety and overall safety standards. In addition, SLK6109 hybrid city bus has gained maturity and enjoys great popularity in the domestic market. So far, the bus has made its way to Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangxi, etc.

Set up in 2005, Sunlong has long become one of the major bus makers in China despite its short history. So far, it has been put into service at China’s well-known “Two Sessions” for ten consecutive years. Sunlong buses have also established a sizable presence in almost all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across China. Moreover, it has been growing fast in a number of overseas markets, such as South Korea, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Africa. It accounts for 80%-90% of all buses imported from China in Thailand. In U.S.A. and some countries in Europe, Sunlong buses can also be found easily. In terms of the export volume, Sunlong now ranks the fifth place among all bus makers in China. In 2015 and 2016, the bus maker’s business revenue reached 1.58 billion RMB and 2.14 billion RMB respectively. And its net profits stood at 18 million RMB and 188 million RMB respectively.

Just one week ago, Dongxu Optoelectronic, a well-known company in China, made an announcement to acquire Sunlong. The deal is said to cost Dongxu three billion RMB. After several rounds of closed-door discussions, the two parties finally decided to made the acquisition public. Dongxu Optoelectronic is specialized in developing and producing graphene lithium-ion batteries, which will greatly improve the batteries’ energy density and provide hope for the fast recharging of new energy vehicles. Some experts say. that on the back of Dongxu Optoelectronic, Sunlong will soon go through a number of technological upgrading, helping it realize a new business transformation. Li Quan, a person-in-charge from the New Energy Vehicle Department of Dongxu Optoelectronic also reveals that after acquiring Sunlong, the company will continue to expand its production scale and there will be a strong possibility that it will build five to eight new energy vehicle production bases across China. In addition, the company will further expand its business in manufacturing logistic vehicles, aiming at diversifying its business and increasing its business revenue to ten billion RMB.
