On December, BYD revealed that the company has already started providing its batteries for external businesses. Before, the company only developed power batteries for its own use.
In the next few years, BYD will continue to strengthen its marketing efforts and expand its batteries business.
In May this year, BYD revealed to the public that it would split its battery business, sending a signal that its power batteries will be made available for all enterprises in the new energy vehicle industry.
In 2017, BYD is expected to increase its production capacity of batteries to 16GWh, including 6GWh MnNiCo ternary batteries and 10GWh LiFePO4 ternary battery. In 2018, the company’s production capacity of power batteries is set to jump to 26GWh.
With its business covering from the upper to the lower stream of the auto industry, BYD has ambitious plans for its new energy vehicle business. The company aims to produce and sell over two million new energy vehicles by 2020 with its accumulated production and sales volume of new energy vehicles reaching five million units.()
