In recent years, people have become increasingly concerned about the severe environmental pollution. In response to the government’s call for battling against the urban air pollution, Foton AUV has made relentless efforts to develop fuel cell buses.
In 2006, it started cooperation with Tsinghua University in working on developing fuel cell buses under China 863 Project.
In 2008, Foton AUV rolled out its first generation BJ6123 fuel cell buses, which were later put into service for Beijing Olympic Games. After a hydrogen refill in 15 mins, the bus is able to drive 300 km continuously.
In 2015, Foton AUV revealed its second generation fuel cell buses, which were able to operate at -15℃ and drive 450 km continuously.
In 2016, Foton AUV BJ6852 fuel cell bus, as the bus maker’s third generation fuel cell bus, won an order of 100 units, thus marking the first commercial operation of fuel cell buses in the world. Equipped with a host of state-of-art technologies, the bus can operate at -20℃ and drive 500 km continuously. Moreover, it only takes 10 mins for the bus to get refilled.
In January, 2017, Foton AUV fuel cell bus served at 2017 China EV100. In April, the company’s third generation intercity fuel cell bus was officially released at Shanghai International Auto Exhibition.
In January, 2018, Foton AUV third generation fuel cell bus was designated as the official vehicle for 2018 China EV100. Its fourth generation BJ6105 fuel cell city bus was revealed at the conference. Being able to operate at -30℃, the bus can drive 520 km continuously and get refilled in just 10 mins. In March, Foton AUV third generation intercity bus was chosen as the official vehicle for the 1st Great Wall International Renewable Energy Forum held in Zhangjiakou, Hebei province.
As one of the leading players in China’s bus market, Foton AUV is fully committed to researching and developing new energy buses and promoting their commercial operation. So far, it has already built its own fuel cell bus production base, covering the upper to the lower stream of the industry.
